Putrajaya

About Putrajaya Putrajaya, a planned city located just south of Kuala Lumpur, is the new federal administrative centre of Malaysia. It was formerly known as Prang Besar and is strategically located 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur. It's also 20 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang in the south.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia chosen Prang Besar district of Selangor on 2nd of June 1993, to become the new Malaysia administrative centre. Putraya development concept was presented by several parties in 1994, and the government had chosen a "Garden City" concept.

Putrajaya Masterplan was then endorsed and gazetted by the government in April 1995, while the development project was started in August 1995 with RM200billion allocation to develop Putrajaya until year 2010.

Putrajaya is divided into 20 precincts. Precinct 1 to 6 are for office blocks, Precinct 13 for Diplomatic Enclave and businesses, Precinct 20 for graveyard, and the rest are for residencies and business.

Boulevard stretching 4.2km straight from Precinct 2 to Precinct 6 is the main activity area for Putrajaya, such as hosting the National Day and many major events.

Putrajaya size is 4,931 hectares, and 37% (1,826.5 hectares) is dedicated for green and open spaces within the city. Lush greenery, botanical gardens are spread across the landscape enhanced by large bodies of water and wetlands.

Five confluences meet at the north forming a main waterway which flows across the city area. The main land of Putrajaya is covered by man-made lake called Putrajaya Lake. There are seventh bridges across the Putrajaya Lake, with one bridge planned for monorail.

The monorail project was freeze in 2003 when the new Prime Minister, Dato Sri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over the government from the Tun.

Several Government offices have re-located there to gain relief from the overcrowding and congestion of Kuala Lumpur, which is Malaysia's largest city. However, Kuala Lumpur still serves as Malaysia's national and legislative capital for now.

Putrajaya is a Federal Territory just like the city of Kuala Lumpur and the island of Labuan. The city is named after the first Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra

In Bahasa Melayu, the Sanskrit-derived words "Putra" means prince while "Jaya" means excellent or success. Probably in five years time, Putrajaya will be crown as the capital city of Malaysia. read: The planning & development of Malaysia's New Federal Administrative Capital, Putraya .

Google Phone

Google Phone

An interesting topic probably, but don't get too excited about it. You will not find any mobile phones in the market with a Google logo stick or printed.

So, what is Google Phone anyway?
Google has a new team to focus on developing software for the mobile phones, which Google will ask mobile phones makers to use the new software for their products. This new software is based on Linux, and surely it is open. The openness will allows anyone to create or contribute more new features to make the mobile phones more and more interesting to use.

The initiative is lead by somebody who are an architect/engineer who has proved adept at designing highly integrated hardware and software. He is Mr Rubin, which previously worked for Apple, and is now putting his team together to make the so called Google Phone to debut in market in 2008.

Google's move to enter the mobile/wireless industry will be a challenge for Microsoft, as buyers will wait from buying smart phone with Microsoft Windows Mobile acts as the operating system, or probably slow the iPhone selling. Let's see how this Google Phone will eat Microsoft and others in the next 12 months times. And hopefully the mobile phones' price will drop significantly as the price can be subsidized by advertisers (via Google).

Google phone will appear in coming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Google has not booth in the expo, but managed to shadow the entire events.

Parlimen Dibubar

Pak Lah memang diketahui umum amat meminati angka 13, mungkin angka keramat baginya.
