Kiblat Locator

Salam, To those of you want to double confirm kiblat direction at your house/office or anywhere in this world, you can check it at on-ine. This tool was developed by Ibn Mas'ud (http://nomi.ibnmasud.com/blog/qibla-locator/) using Google Map technology. If you are musafir (travelling) this tool might be useful as long as there is internet connection. Bonus for those who have 3G services in their mobile phones. So, the URL is http://www.qiblalocator.com and notice that there is a red line pointing to Ka'aba direction. Ka'ba direction is based on GPS data, and this is how Ibn Masud utilize the technology to help us identify the direction. If you move the map around, you can see the red line being drag to show you the current direction. Use either "Map" or "Satelite" buttons to switch the map and you can zoom in and out to find your house/office/shops/etc. The satelite view was outdated (about 1 to 1.5 years back). Unfortunately I can't view the complete map from my Nokia E65. May be this is due to the Beta version. Hopefully Ibn Mas'ud can think of better solution in the next release. If you are intersted to install a FREE version of Google Map (called Google Map Mobile -GMM), please download it from http://www.google.map/gmm/ Try it!

Check out this short story called "What is Kiblat?" by Ralph-Michael Chiaia at Yellow Mama Online Magazine August 2008. http://blackpetalsks.tripod.com/yellowmama/id183.html)

It examines the meaning of Kiblat (Qiblat) and what it means to a man in the prime of his life.
